Air Rarotonga staff travel & standby

1. On the flight search screen, select GZ (Air Rarotonga) as the airline. If you choose 'All Airlines (your own GDS)', you may not be able to book, and with Sabre you may see only some flights, because not all of them are distributed in the GDS.
2. Book flights between Rarotonga (RAR) and Tahiti (PPT) at least 48 hours in advance. These are GZ seat blocks on flights operated and checked in by another airline.
3. Allow for minimum connection times: generally 2 hours between international and domestic flights, in either direction.
4. You receive an eTicket itinerary receipt by email automatically. At check-in, your confirmation number and ID document are enough.

Taxes:

• Domestic Cook Islands fares include VAT (GST). myIDTravel shows it under 'Total Government Taxes', not in the 'Fare', rounded to 1 decimal place in NZD.
• On international flights, departure taxes are added to the ZED fare and can be higher than the fare itself.

Unless you are a Cook Islands resident, you must show proof of an onward or return ticket at check-in.

• Every adult and child on a ZED fare gets 1 piece of up to 23 kg.
• Pre-paid extra baggage isn't available; normal excess rates apply.
• Travelling light can improve your chances of getting on a nearly full flight because of weight and balance limits: especially on flights to Atiu, Mitiaro, Mauke and Mangaia.
• Infants have no allowance of their own. A stroller and/or car seat for an infant or child travels free, but may have to go in the hold.
• Cabin baggage: 1 piece of up to 7 kg. Some flights use smaller aircraft with small or no overhead bins, and then your cabin bag goes in the hold.

Go to the Air Rarotonga check-in desk:

• Domestic flights: at least 30 minutes before departure.
• International flights: at least 90 minutes before departure.

At Tahiti Faa'a International Airport, Air Rarotonga checks in SF3-operated flights in the international terminal and ATR-operated flights in the domestic part of the terminal. The aircraft type is shown in the myIDTravel schedule.

• Economy is the only class on Air Rarotonga.
• Seats are assigned at check-in.
• Standby passengers are loaded at the gate if there is space, first by boarding priority (Air Rarotonga's own staff go first), then by date of joining.

Everyone on staff travel must dress to a moderate standard. Singlet tops, bare feet and clothes with offensive slogans aren't acceptable. Airport staff can refuse to load you or deny an upgrade if they think your clothes aren't suitable.

Changes:

• You can change only the date and/or time, and you do it in myIDTravel with the Rebook button. Rarotonga and Aitutaki airports have Wi-Fi so you can do this there.
• If your booked flight is full, ground staff can move you to the next flight with free seats.
• Try Rebook before cancelling and booking again.
• To change the route, cancel and refund first (these are two separate steps), then make a new booking. For example, if direct AIT-RAR flights are full, you may be able to book AIT-AIU and then AIU-RAR.

Refunds:

• Because of a system restriction, cancelling in myIDTravel currently refunds to a voucher. To get the money back on your credit card, fill in the form at http://myidrefunds.airraro.com
• Cancel before departure whenever you can: Air Rarotonga is a ticketless carrier. Manual full refunds (when you couldn't cancel online before the flight) are processed within 5 working days.
• Partial refunds are handled manually and can take up to four weeks. The myIDTravel fee isn't refunded on partly used tickets.
• You can also ask for a refund after departure, or if you run into a problem in myIDTravel. Air Rarotonga honours every refund request for an unflown ticket made within one year of issue.
• A ticket expires one year after it was issued. After that it has no value and can't be reissued or refunded.
• If you paid in person (over the counter or at a card terminal), the refund takes much longer when the card isn't present, and may involve bank transfers in different currencies.
• When you contact Air Rarotonga Refunds, give your airline code, employee ID, name and booking reference (PNR).

Staff travelers can fly on Air Rarotonga (GZ) flights between Rarotonga, Aitutaki, Atiu, Mitiaro, Mauke, Mangaia and Papeete.
