How to list for standby on LATAM Airlines

The booking made when you buy your ticket in myIDTravel is required to travel on LATAM. If that booking is no longer valid, rebook your flights in myIDTravel too. If rebooking runs into trouble, email [email protected], describe the problem and include all the details needed for the listing.

  • Only credit cards are accepted. A debit card payment will be declined.
  • LATAM doesn't issue tickets manually. If something goes wrong during payment, report it to [email protected] and wait until it is fixed.
  • A travel partner or travel companion must always fly with the employee, so myIDTravel only lets you buy their ticket together with the employee's.

Flights you can't use

There are no embargoes at the moment.

Visas and travel documents

Carry every document needed for your destination and for any point on the way, passport, visas and health certificate, in case you are offloaded for commercial or other reasons.

Baggage

  • Checked baggage: 1 piece up to 23 kg, free of charge.
  • Cabin: one personal item (such as a wallet, laptop bag or baby backpack) plus one carry-on bag for the overhead compartment.
  • Bags must stay within the permitted sizes and weights and must not contain restricted or prohibited items.

LATAM's cabin baggage and checked baggage pages give weights, sizes by route and what you can take on board.

Check-in

Standby check-in opens 48 hours before departure on latamairlines.com > My Trips > Check-in.

If online check-in doesn't work, check in at the airport:

  • Kiosks print standby boarding passes where the service exists: on domestic flights within Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Brazil, and on international flights departing Brazil.
  • Elsewhere, check in with a LATAM agent at the check-in desk.
  • SCL, EZE, LIM, GRU, MIA and MAD have a Staff Travel check-in desk for standby passengers.

Boarding, seats and upgrades

ZED ticket holders board by the same priority list as LATAM employees. They come after LATAM employees travelling on their own staff travel benefits, and both groups come after paying customers.

Special services, children and pets

  • Standby passengers get free catering only when it is available. Special meals aren't offered to standby passengers.
  • LATAM doesn't accept unaccompanied children under 16. Children under 16 can travel on these tickets only with an adult holding a similar discounted ticket.

Dress code

Dress in line with public standards of good taste: normally that means casual wear. Be courteous and polite to everyone you deal with while buying your ticket, checking in and on the flight.

Changes and refunds

A refund takes two steps:

  1. In myIDTravel, cancel your booking if it is still active; otherwise click the ticket number and request the refund. This alone doesn't complete the refund.
  2. On www.latamairlines.com go to My Trips > Manage your Trips and find your ticket. If that doesn't work, use the refund request form.

LATAM's step-by-step refund guide answers common questions. If you still have problems, call the LATAM Contact Center. The agent will ask for bank account details only if the problem is with the refund on latamairlines.com.
