How to list for standby on Pakistan International Airlines
Call PIA's Sales Call Centre (Reservations) to list. You can call up to 7 days before your travel date, and the listing must be done at least 3 hours before the scheduled departure. Passengers without a listing may be refused travel.
Don't expect a quick reply by email: PIA has limited resources, and emails sent on a Saturday, Sunday or national holiday are answered when the office reopens.

Flights you can't use
PIA normally announces an embargo about a week before it takes effect.
Visas and travel documents
At acceptance you must show photo ID with your date of birth, passport number, and date and country of issue, plus any other details required under API and TSA standards.

- Cabin: 1 piece of hand baggage weighing up to 7 kg.
- Checked: 1 piece of 21 kg.

Check-in
Because of intensive security at airports, arrive at least 2 hours before domestic flights and at least 4 hours before international flights.
- Check in at the airport counter no later than 60 minutes before domestic flights within Pakistan, and 120 minutes before transborder and international flights.
- Counters close strictly 1 hour before departure.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Boarding priority follows check-in time. PIA's own employees and their dependents are accommodated before space-available staff of other airlines.
Dress code
Look groomed, clean, tidy and smart when you travel on a PIA staff ticket. Generally not acceptable:
- Clothes with religious or offensive words or images.
- Revealing clothes.
- Strapless or sleeveless tops that bare the shoulders.
- Shorts of any length.
- Mini or micro skirts.
- Torn, soiled, ripped or cut-down denim.
- Trousers or skirts worn on the hip that show underwear or the midriff, unless part of national dress: a sari, for example, is fine.
- Any kind of beachwear.
- Beach footwear such as flip-flops. Smart sandals are fine.
- Dirty footwear, such as soiled sports or training shoes. Clean, smart sports shoes are fine.
Dress to public standards of good taste, don't inconvenience paying passengers, and don't distract ground staff and cabin crew from serving them. If you don't follow these rules, you can be refused travel.
Changes and refunds
Ask for a refund within 4 months of your last flown flight. Processing takes about 120 working days, and refund queries are handled only after that period. Contact: [email protected]
