Philippine Airlines staff travel & standby
Philippine Airlines requires a listing for standby travel, made in myIDTravel, ideally at least 24 hours before departure: without one you can be denied boarding. In Manila, international staff travelers start at Staff Travel Counter 49 in NAIA Terminal 1, and through check-in isn't available. Staff Airlines shows estimated open seats on Philippine Airlines flights before you go.

How to list for standby on Philippine Airlines
- List and buy your ticket with the myIDTravel listing tool.
- A listing is required for space-available travel. Without one, you may be denied boarding.
- It's recommended to list at least 24 hours before departure.
- Book each direction as a separate one-way ticket: it makes refunds easier.
Flights you can't use
Unless your airline has a bilateral agreement that says otherwise, these flights can't be used:
- Domestic flights between Manila (MNL) and Basco, Busuanga, Calbayog, Catarman, Caticlan, Ozamiz, Pagadian, San Jose (Antique) and Siargao.
- All domestic flights to and from CRK, CEB, DVO, ZAM and ILO, unless the flight is to or from MNL.
- On international routes: all charter flights and all codeshare flights not operated by Philippine Airlines.
- Philippine Airlines flight numbers 3004–3999.
Flight numbers may change.
Embargoes: new routes are usually closed to staff travel for their first 30 days, and so are codeshare flights not operated by Philippine Airlines.
Visas and travel documents
You need a valid ticket and the right travel documents, valid passport, visas or entry permits and health certificates where required, for every country you travel to or through, unless the authorities have granted an exemption. Philippine Airlines can deny boarding if you don't have the documents for any transit point on your route.
Baggage
- Your free allowance depends on your class of service, the fare type and your origin and final destination. The piece or the weight system may apply.
- Allowance details for Philippine Airlines flights: philippineairlines.com
- On Q3/Q4 flights, only 10 kg is allowed because of limited space.
- Bags can't be checked through to your connection.
Check-in
At Manila NAIA Terminal 1 (international flights):
- Go to the dedicated Staff Travel counter, Counter 49. This applies to all non-revenue passengers, including ZED.
- Wait until Counter 49 tells you that you can be accepted on your flight.
- Only then go to your flight's check-in counter to drop your bags and get your boarding pass.
Domestic flights in Manila use NAIA Terminal 2.
At all other terminals and airports:
- If the flight is open, you are processed and accepted as soon as you check in.
- If the flight is fully booked, you are put on the standby list. Standby passengers are handled at the counter from 45 minutes before the estimated departure, following the priority classification. Once you have your boarding pass, clear customs, immigration and quarantine and go straight to the gate.
Times:
- Check in at least 3 hours before international flights.
- Check-in counters generally close 45 minutes before domestic flights and 60 minutes before international flights.
- Boarding gates close 15 minutes before departure, or 30 minutes before at Caticlan (MPH).

Through check-in isn't available.

Special services, children and pets
- Special meals aren't available to standby or ZED passengers.
- Unaccompanied minors can't travel on standby or ZED tickets.
Dress code
You are responsible for making sure you and your dependants know and follow the Philippine Airlines dress code. Anyone dressed improperly will be denied boarding.
- Casual wear is fine: jeans, T-shirts, polo shirts, blouses, skirts, summer dresses and sneakers.
- Walking shorts that reach at least the knee are allowed only on flights to beach destinations.
- Not allowed: sleeveless shirts, short shorts, slippers, sandals and ragged clothes (with patches, holes or stains, or torn).
- Children must be well groomed and neatly dressed for travel.
In short: clean, neat and conservative clothes.
Changes and refunds
Regular refunds (fully unused or partly used myIDTravel tickets) are done in myIDTravel:
- Retrieve the PNR and click Cancel.
- Retrieve the ticket number and click Refund.
For a downgrade refund, email [email protected] and attach a copy of your boarding pass.
When following up, include your full name, employing airline, ticket number, PNR, the refund details and your boarding passes. Refunds can take about 2–3 months.
