How to list for standby on Qatar Airways
- Qatar Airways has a new listing site: https://stafftravel.qatarairways.com.qa
- If you hold a rebate ticket issued by your own airline (IET), list on the new Qatar Airways system.
- If your ticket was issued through myIDTravel (NIET), make your listing and any changes in myIDTravel.
Flights you can't use
- Flights QR3500–6999 (this range may change).
- Any flight not operated by Qatar Airways.
Visas and travel documents
Carry a valid passport and the visas you need for your destination and for every scheduled stop on the way, in case you are offloaded there. Without them, you may be refused boarding.
Baggage
Checked baggage on rebate tickets issued through myIDTravel is whatever is shown on the ticket.
On tickets issued manually under the ZED agreement (IET), the ticket should show this allowance:
- Economy, weight concept routes: 30 kg per passenger.
- Economy, piece concept routes: 2 pieces, each up to 23 kg and 158 cm (62 in).
- Business, weight concept routes: 40 kg per passenger.
- Business, piece concept routes: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg and 158 cm (62 in).
For cabin baggage, follow the rules on Qatarairways.com.
Check-in
- Confirmed bookings: check in on www.qatarairways.com.qa.
- Standby bookings: go to the check-in counter with your listing.
- Check-in times are published on Qatarairways.com.
- Standby (space available) passengers can't check through to a connecting flight.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
As is usual in the industry, ZED passengers come after Qatar Airways' paying passengers. Qatar Airways' own staff have priority over staff of other airlines on ZED tickets.
You can't request a seat on a staff ticket. If the flight is very empty, check-in staff may ask whether you prefer an aisle or a window, but only if those seats are free. A seat given at check-in can still be changed if commercial needs require it.
Don't ask Qatar Airways staff for an upgrade.
Special services, children and pets
- Children under 12 can't fly in Business class, even with an adult.
- Special meals can't be pre-booked on rebate or standby tickets.
- Infant safety seats can't be used on board.
- Unaccompanied minors aren't accepted.
- No other special service requests are possible on standby or space available tickets.
Dress code
Staff and family members must dress smart casual, in clothes that are neat, undamaged, well kept and that fit properly. Qatar Airways stations are required to refuse ID passengers who are not dressed properly.

- Qatar Airways expects interline employees and their eligible nominees to carry back-up tickets issued by their own airline.
