Royal Jordanian staff travel & standby
On Royal Jordanian your listing is created automatically when you buy your e-ticket in myIDTravel; if your travel date passes, list again for the new date there. You may hold only one ticket per flight segment, through check-in isn't available, and you're expected to carry back-up tickets. Staff Airlines shows estimated open seats on Royal Jordanian flights before you go.
Rules for staff travel

How to list for standby on Royal Jordanian
Listing is mandatory, and it is created automatically when you buy your e-ticket. Once the payment is validated, you receive an itinerary receipt by email. Make sure you also get the e-ticket receipt with your ticket number, and keep that number safe for the whole trip.
If the travel date you listed for has passed, open your ticket in myIDTravel and list again for the new date.
One ticket per segment: staff of other airlines may hold only one ticket for each flight segment. Issuing several tickets, even for different cabins, is strictly prohibited. It can lead to denied boarding and you may lose your staff travel privileges.
Royal Jordanian doesn't answer questions about how full a flight is. You can check your flight status on www.rj.com.
Flights you can't use
These flight number series are excluded on all days, with no end date:
- RJ2000–RJ2499: Umrah.
- RJ2500–RJ2899: Hajj.
- RJ2900–RJ2999: Umrah/Hajj charters.
- RJ6000–RJ6999: charters.
- RJ3000–RJ3999, RJ4000–RJ4999 and RJ7000–RJ7999: codeshares.
Also restricted:
- Codeshare flights sold by Royal Jordanian but operated by other airlines.
- Royal Jordanian multi-leg and charter flights may be restricted.
- On the BKK–HKG–BKK sector, a traffic allotment from the Hong Kong DCA means Royal Jordanian can't fill more than 50% of the capacity, even when seats are free.
Baggage
- Economy: 1 piece of up to 23 kg.
- Business: 2 pieces of up to 23 kg each.
- No single item can weigh more than 32 kg.
- The allowance may be different if your ticket says so, and it can depend on the partner agreement and the booking class.
- Royal Jordanian may charge excess baggage at the applicable rates.
- On top of your allowance you can take into the cabin a coat, a handbag or purse, an umbrella or walking stick, a camera or binoculars, crutches and a laptop.
Check-in
Be at the check-in counter no later than 2 hours before departure; 1 hour is the minimum. For flights to the USA and Canada, be there at least 3 hours before departure for pre-clearance formalities.
Through check-in isn't available.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Business class on standby:
- Issue your standby Business class ticket at least one day before departure to avoid problems at the airport.
- Families with infants can't travel in Business.
- Children over 2 and under 15 must be with an adult in Business.
Seat requests aren't available for staff travelers.
Special services, children and pets
- Wheelchairs are accepted; no other special requests are.
- Special meals only for health or religious reasons.
- Unaccompanied minors aren't accepted.
Dress code
Dress as you would for the office, or smart casual, and to the standard of the cabin you travel in. Stations are obliged to refuse improperly dressed staff travelers, and Royal Jordanian can refuse boarding to anyone who doesn't follow the dress code.
T-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, gym shoes and other very casual clothes aren't acceptable. Never allowed in any class:
- Shorts.
- Sweatshirts.
- Tops that leave the shoulders bare.
- Sandals.
- For women: sportswear and sports footwear.
Behave discreetly, don't tell other passengers which airline you work for, and don't disturb paying passengers or distract the crew from serving them.
Changes and refunds
Back-up tickets: Royal Jordanian expects all staff of other airlines to carry back-up tickets.
Ticket validity: a ticket is valid for 90 days from the date of issue. After a year it has no value and can't be refunded.
Refunds:
- Unused tickets are refunded automatically through myIDTravel, including the myIDTravel fee. The fee isn't refunded on partly used tickets.
- A government tax of 1.75 JOD on every ticket is never refunded.
- Cancelling the PNR doesn't refund the ticket. To get your money back, use your e-ticket number and choose the refund option. You can do this in myIDTravel up to 365 days from the original date of issue.
- The money goes back to the card you paid with, about 60 days after you request the refund. If it doesn't arrive, ask your card company to investigate.
- If you still have a problem with a refund, email [email protected]
Confirmed (booked) travel: cancel any booking you won't use at least 72 hours before departure. If you don't, you have no right to a refund. You also can't book a confirmed flight and then show up at check-in with a standby ticket.
Business-to-Economy downgrade refunds:
- If you bought a standby Business ticket but were accepted only in Economy because Business was full, you can ask for a downgrade refund.
- This works only on a reciprocal basis: staff of airlines that don't offer the same to Royal Jordanian staff can't get it. Eligibility is on the Travel Information page (General Information) of myIDTravel; your own Staff Travel department can tell you more.
- Apply up to one month after the trip: email your ticket number and boarding pass to [email protected]
Good to know
If your flight is disrupted:
- Free and reduced fares not available to the public aren't covered by EU Regulation EC261/04. Royal Jordanian follows its own group policy.
- No staff traveler gets denied boarding compensation.
- Tickets with booking right (R1): you are rebooked on the next Royal Jordanian flight if there is space in your booking class. Rerouting isn't possible. You can be offloaded or downgraded in favour of paying passengers if the flight is oversold.
- Tickets without booking right (R2): no rebooking, rerouting or care. You can be accepted on standby on the next Royal Jordanian flight. You can be offloaded or downgraded in favour of paying passengers, even after you have been accepted.

Questions, answered
Do I need to list in myIDTravel for a Royal Jordanian standby flight?
Yes, but the listing is created automatically when you buy your e-ticket. If your travel date passes, list again for the new date in myIDTravel.
Can I buy two tickets for the same Royal Jordanian flight?
No. Staff of other airlines may hold only one ticket per flight segment, even across cabins. Breaking this rule can lead to denied boarding and loss of staff travel privileges.
How much baggage can I check on Royal Jordanian?
One piece of up to 23 kg in Economy and two in Business, unless your ticket shows otherwise. No item can weigh more than 32 kg.
Can I check through to my connection on Royal Jordanian?
No. Through check-in isn't available.
Can I get a refund if I flew Economy on a Business standby ticket?
Yes, if your airline offers the same to Royal Jordanian staff. Email your ticket number and boarding pass to [email protected] within one month of the trip.
Which airlines can I fly on ZED fares?
It depends on the ZED and interline agreements of the airline you work for. In Staff Airlines, the partner airlines filter shows only the flights you can board.
Airline rules change often and this summary may be out of date. Always confirm important details with Royal Jordanian’s staff travel department or in the booking tool you use before you travel. Staff Airlines is not responsible for denied boarding, missed flights or other losses. Found a mistake? Let us know.
