Seaborne Airlines staff travel & standby
To fly standby on Seaborne Airlines you need an electronic ZED (eZED) ticket, and you check in at the airport ticket counter: at least 60 minutes before domestic flights and 90 minutes before international ones. Interline staff board at ZED priority, after Seaborne's own staff, in order of check-in time. Staff Airlines shows estimated open seats on Seaborne Airlines flights before you go.

How to list for standby on Seaborne Airlines
Space-available ZED travel on Seaborne needs an electronic ticket: you and everyone traveling with you must present an eZED ticket number.
When your listing is made, Seaborne collects your Secure Flight data: full name, date of birth and redress number, if you have one.
Visas and travel documents
You and your travelers must carry every document you need, passport, visas, health certificate, for your destination and for every point along the way, in case you have to be offloaded en route for commercial or other reasons. Seaborne can deny boarding if you don't have the right documents for a transit point.
Where required, Seaborne collects advance passenger information (APIS) at check-in, so allow enough time before departure.
Baggage
Seaborne's normal allowances apply (see www.seaborneairlines.com), but on a ZED ticket the fees for your first and second checked bags are waived, unless a bag is oversized or overweight.
- No item over 50 pounds is accepted, nor anything whose length + width + height exceeds what Seaborne aircraft can take. Ask Seaborne for the limits of a specific aircraft.
- Checked bags travel only on the flight you are on. All baggage can be inspected, and Seaborne can refuse anything unsuitable for the aircraft because of its size, weight or nature.
Cabin baggage:
- 1 small carry-on bag, up to 56 × 36 × 23 cm (22 × 14 × 9 in), 115 cm (45 in) in total and 30 lb. It must fit in the sizer without forcing. Carry-on bags are taken at the aircraft and handed back at the aircraft at your destination.
- Plus 1 personal item, such as a purse, briefcase, laptop bag or tote, up to 36 × 36 × 23 cm (14 × 14 × 9 in), 37 in in total. It must fit under the seat in front of you: there are no overhead compartments.
- Keep fragile or valuable things, such as keys, medication or computers, in your personal item.
- Anything that doesn't meet these limits, or looks too large or oddly shaped to stow, must be checked, at the normal extra-baggage rate where it applies.
- Everything must be fully stowed before the aircraft can leave.
If you need to bring a mobility aid or assistive device on board, ask Seaborne to confirm the allowed size. Once approved, it travels free for a qualified disabled passenger, on top of the normal allowance, as long as it fits in an approved stowage space.
Check-in
For standby (space-available) personal travel, check in at an airport ticket counter. Because of added security procedures, the deadline is 60 minutes before domestic flights and 90 minutes before international flights.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Staff of other airlines and their travelers are accommodated at ZED priority, after Seaborne's own employees and their guests on personal travel. The order follows check-in time; your date of joining doesn't count.
If you don't get on the flight you asked for, the agents move you to the next Seaborne flight, and you keep your original check-in time on the priority list.
- After check-in, stay away from the ticket lift desk or service center until you are called by name for a seat.
- Once you have a boarding pass, board when told and take your assigned seat. Don't ask other passengers to move so you get a better seat.
- If you are asked to change seats, change cabin or leave the aircraft, do it quickly and quietly.
- If you aren't accommodated on your intended flight, you aren't entitled to Denied Boarding Compensation (DBC) and must refuse it.
Special services, children and pets
Staff with disabilities can get the same free support services as Seaborne's paying passengers:
- Meet and assist.
- Courtesy wheelchairs.
- Checked personal wheelchairs.
- Pre-boarding when needed, if you have been assigned a seat.
Call Seaborne at 1-801-401-9100 to add the request to your reservation. If you travel with a battery-powered wheelchair, contact Seaborne reservations before your trip so they can prepare.
Unaccompanied children:
- A child under 12 counts as unaccompanied when no passenger aged 16 or over travels on the same flight in the same cabin.
- The fee is $100.00 to any destination.
- Children under 5 aren't accepted alone under any circumstances.
- Only nonstop flights are allowed, and no itineraries connecting to or from another airline, codeshare partners included.
- The guardian dropping the child off fills in and signs paperwork at check-in, and Seaborne checks that the guardian at the destination is there, ready to collect the child and sign the release. Another parent or responsible adult must meet the child.
Pets can't travel in the cabin or as checked baggage on any international flight, and Seaborne doesn't accept pet shipments to or from international destinations. This doesn't apply to service animals.
Dress code
You can be denied boarding if you aren't dressed properly. Wear clean, neat clothes; long jeans and athletic shoes are fine.
Not allowed:
- Torn, dirty or frayed clothes.
- Clothes that distract or offend others, or anything revealing, such as extreme miniskirts, halter and bra tops or see-through clothing.
- Visible swimwear, sleepwear or underwear.
- Vulgar clothing, including words or pictures that may offend others.
- Flip-flops or bare feet.
Don't inconvenience Seaborne's paying passengers or distract ground staff and cabin crew from serving them, and follow the instructions of Seaborne staff on duty. If you feel you were treated unfairly, report it through your own staff travel department, not directly to Seaborne.
Good to know
ZED tickets on Seaborne are for personal leisure travel only, never for business trips. They can't be transferred, sold, bought, donated, traded or exchanged for goods or services. Don't discuss the price or conditions of your discounted ticket with paying passengers.
