Listing is mandatory for every ID standby trip on Tarom, by email to the Interline Staff Office at [email protected]. Get to the airport at least 45 minutes before departure, and expect to check in again at each connection: through check-in isn't available on standby. How to list for standby on Tarom
You must list for any IET or NIET standby trip on Tarom (RO) flights. Contact the Interline Staff Office:

Flights you can't use
Tarom has no embargoes. Codeshare flights not operated by Tarom (RO) are excluded.
Visas and travel documents
For international travel you need a valid passport and the visas required for your destination: and for every scheduled stop on the way, in case you have to be offloaded there.
Baggage
Checked baggage:
- 1 free standard piece per passenger, up to 23 kg and 158 cm (length + width + height).
- Infants without a seat: 1 piece up to 10 kg and 115 cm, plus 1 collapsible stroller.
- The infant allowance can't be combined with an adult's. Anything over the infant's allowance is charged as excess baggage: see www.tarom.ro.
Cabin baggage in Business and Economy:
- 1 bag of 55 × 35 × 25 cm.
- 1 personal item: a handbag or purse, a briefcase, a camera bag, a laptop, or something of similar or smaller size.
- Total weight: no more than 10 kg.
Check-in
On top of the usual procedures for non-revenue passengers:
- Finish check-in before standard check-in closes. Tarom recommends getting to the airport at least 45 minutes before departure; if you are late, you lose the right to travel on that flight.
- Show a valid ticket and your company ID card.
- The name on the ticket must match your company ID card (staff) or your passport (dependents).
Through check-in isn't available on standby, so leave enough time to land and check in again at every stop.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Seat requests aren't permitted on staff travel.
Special services, children and pets
- No special service requests on standby.
- Special meals can't be pre-booked for non-revenue passengers.
- Infant safety seats can't be used.
- Children under 16 can travel on a rebate ticket only with an adult on the same type of rebate ticket.
Dress code
Dress appropriately for the class you are flying in. Staff and their family members should also:
- Behave discreetly and not tell other passengers which airline they work for.
- Make no special demands of Tarom or any other carrier, on the ground or in flight.
- Let revenue passengers go first at all times: at the ticket desk, at check-in and at boarding.
