How to list for standby on SalamAir
All travel is on a standby (space available) basis. You can book in advance, but you won't get a booking confirmation: seats are given at the airport, depending on what's free at departure time.
A flight listing is required for all standby travel. Without one you'll be denied check-in.
Flights you can't use
Only flights operated by SalamAir (OV) are valid. You can't use:
- SalamAir codeshare flights.
- Flights OV4000–4999 and OV6000–7999.
Visas and travel documents
You and the people traveling with you need every document required by the destination and by each point on the way, passport, visas (including transit visas) and health certificate, in case you have to be offloaded. SalamAir can refuse boarding if any are missing.
Basic advance passenger information (API) is collected when you book.
Baggage
- Cabin: 5 kg, one under-seat item up to 25 × 33 × 20 cm (not a trolley bag).
- Checked: 1 piece of 20 kg.
- Extra pieces and excess weight are paid at the airport at the applicable rates. Full baggage policy: SalamAir.com
Check-in
- Arrive at the check-in counter at least 90 minutes before departure to register on the wait list.
- Go to the counter for your class of travel. Online check-in isn't available on standby.
Through check-in isn't available on standby tickets, so leave enough time to land and check in again at each stop. Your bags are tagged to your final SalamAir destination. In MCT, go to the Transfer Desk for your onward boarding passes.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
- SalamAir employees and their eligible travelers go first, then other airlines' staff on ZED tickets.
- Partner-airline staff are accepted in order of earlier date of joining and job title.
- If you don't get on your intended flight, you aren't entitled to any compensation.
- Seat requests aren't allowed on staff travel, but you may be able to buy a seat at check-in if one is available.
- ZED travelers aren't accepted on the flight deck or a jump seat.
Special services, children and pets
- Unaccompanied minors under 16 aren't accepted.
- Live animals aren't carried in the hold. A pet in the cabin (SVAN / ESAN) can be accepted for an extra charge, subject to availability and approval.
Dress code
Dress neatly and cleanly at all times; smart casual is acceptable. If you don't meet the standard at any point of your journey, you can be denied boarding. Local airport management has the final say.
Changes and refunds
Rebooking, cancellations and refunds follow SalamAir's policies and your ticket conditions.
- Cancelling a listing in myIDTravel automatically sends a refund request; if you can't travel on a booked flight, the refund goes through myIDTravel.
- If you don't travel as booked, you get a voucher for the full value, valid for 1 year on any SalamAir route for the same passenger.
- A cancelled booking can't be listed again: you get a voucher instead.
- Confirmed tickets aren't refunded for a no-show.
