You can't be rerouted: to change your routing, you have to buy a new ticket.

Refund rules apply to all Virgin Australia flights.

  • Standby (space-available) refunds: submit them in myIDTravel, ideally right after your travel date, before the PNR is purged. Out-of-sequence refunds can take up to 12 weeks. Processing fees on partly used tickets aren't refunded.
  • Downgrade refunds: request them within 7 days of travel. They exist only where Virgin Australia has a bilateral agreement with your airline; for VA01–VA29, check with your Staff Travel Office.
  • Positive-space (confirmed) tickets: there's no refund if you don't cancel at least 24 hours before departure.
  • Ticket expiry: ask for a refund within 3 months of the ticket being issued. After that the ticket expires and can't be refunded.
