Widerøe staff travel & standby
All standby listings on Widerøe are made in myIDTravel: the airline's customer support and airport staff can't create one for you. You can check in on the web or in the app, but bags aren't checked through to other airlines, and on full flights you may only be cleared minutes before departure. Staff Airlines shows estimated open seats on Widerøe flights before you go.

How to list for standby on Widerøe
Make every non-revenue listing in myIDTravel. Only you, your eligible dependents and travel companions (if your airline's agreement includes them) who are set up in myIDTravel can fly standby on Widerøe.
- List and pay in myIDTravel. Widerøe accepts Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
- Your payment may go through 3DSecure, an extra check that you are the cardholder: you enter a password or passcode sent by SMS, or confirm the payment with Bank-ID, depending on your card issuer. Questions about how your card handles this go to your card-issuing bank.
- After the purchase you get a six-character record locator (PNR). Keep it with you when you travel.
Trouble with myIDTravel? Ask your own airline's staff travel office. Widerøe's customer support centre and airport staff can't help create a new listing.
Multi-leg flights: Widerøe runs several multi-leg flights under one flight number. Book and list from your origin to your destination.
Flights you can't use
- Codeshares: flights not operated by WF aren't part of ZED and MIBA agreements.
- There are no embargoes on WF flights.
Visas and travel documents
For international travel, every passenger needs a valid passport and the visas required for the destination and for scheduled stops on the way, in case you are offloaded there. Widerøe takes no responsibility and covers no costs if documents are wrong or missing.
Baggage
- Checked: 1 piece of up to 23 kilos.
- Cabin: 1 piece of up to 8 kilos and 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm.
On many routes Widerøe flies small aircraft with small overhead bins and little space, so you may be asked to check in your cabin bag or hand it in at the aircraft door (DAA).
Check-in
- Web and mobile check-in are open to non-revenue passengers: go to the Check-In page on the Widerøe website or in the Widerøe mobile app and find your reservation with your last name and confirmation number.
- The deadline for checking bags is the same as for paying passengers.
- On a connecting WF flight in the same itinerary you may get a confirmed seat if loads allow, but that doesn't guarantee you'll be accepted at the intermediate stop.
- For a connection on another airline, check in separately with that airline. Bags aren't checked through.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Standby passengers get on only if there is space and the aircraft's payload limits for safe operation allow it. Priority order:
- Widerøe staff
- Norwegian staff
- Other airline staff (ZED)
Within each group, the employee's date of hire decides, and R1 tickets rank above R2 tickets.
- If loads allow, you may be cleared well before departure. On full flights you may have to wait until check-in has closed and be cleared at the gate: sometimes only 5-10 minutes before departure, depending on no-shows.
- Stay ready: board as soon as you hear your name and receive your boarding pass. If you don't collect it promptly, the next standby passenger on the list takes the seat.
- If you can't get on your flight, cancel and re-list in myIDTravel.
- On multi-leg flights you may be offloaded at the intermediate stop if it is full. You then need a new listing in myIDTravel to your final destination, and the unflown part isn't refunded. If you have checked bags, the handling agent helps move them to your next flight.
Dress code
Dress presentably and appropriately, and always be polite and courteous to other passengers and crew. Otherwise you can be refused boarding or offloaded.
- Loud, disrespectful, drunk or threatening behavior can get you refused boarding or offloaded, and may lead to exclusion from the ID standby program.
- The employee is responsible for how their dependents and travel companions behave. Make sure dependents traveling without you know Widerøe's rules. Violations are reported to your airline, and Widerøe can ban future travel on its flights.
Changes and refunds
- Cancel in myIDTravel within 90 days of purchase, and full or partial refunds are usually processed automatically.
- If a flight you are listed on is cancelled, refund or relist in myIDTravel as soon as possible.
- If you get an error, use the email address on the ID Agreements page to ask for help. Include the record locator, traveler name(s), travel date(s) and route(s).
- Refunds go back to the original credit card. It usually takes 3-5 business days once started, but can occasionally take up to two weeks.
Good to know
Non-revenue passengers aren't eligible for compensation for delays, cancellations or denied boarding. If you're offered compensation, you must turn it down.

How much baggage can I take on Widerøe?
One checked bag up to 23 kilos and one cabin bag up to 8 kilos and 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm. On small aircraft you may have to check your cabin bag or leave it at the aircraft door.
Can I check my bags through to another airline?
