Air Canada standby & non-rev travel
To fly standby on Air Canada you must list for every flight, by calling the Air Canada Call Centre on 1-888-247-2262 in North America or local reservations elsewhere. Codeshare flights, Air Canada JETZ and Air Canada Vacations charters can't be used, and tighter bag limits apply on some routes and aircraft. How to list for standby on Air Canada
Every Air Canada flight needs a listing. To list:
- In North America, call the Air Canada Call Centre at 1-888-247-2262.
- Outside North America, contact local reservations.
The agreements cover flights of Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and Jazz.
Flights you can't use
There are no embargoes on ZED travel. You can't use:
- Air Canada JETZ
- any codeshare flight
- Air Canada Vacations charters
Baggage
Your allowance is the same as a full-fare passenger's: see www.aircanada.com. Some routes and aircraft have stricter limits:
- Standby from China: one checked bag per person, at most. This limit can't be exceeded under any circumstances, and oversize or overweight pieces aren't accepted. Air Canada brought it in to help the federal government cut the risk of counterfeit goods being imported.
- Boeing 777-300 (77P): your carry-on is limited to one personal item, such as a purse or laptop case. Travelling with a baby, you can take two (for example a purse and a diaper bag). Duty-free shopping is not an exception and has to fit inside your personal item.
- Flights to and from KIN: per passenger, one carry-on (a standard-size personal item such as a purse, small backpack or laptop case) and one checked bag of up to 23 kg and 158 cm in linear dimensions.
Check-in
Check-in times are on www.aircanada.com. Self-service kiosks are available to you at airports that have them.
Web check-in does the same job as a kiosk. You can use it to:
- stand by for an earlier flight when you hold a confirmed ticket (if eligible)
- check flight loads
- choose a seat
- say how many bags you will check
Boarding, seats and upgrades
When two or more interline employees are on the same flight, the date their listing was made by the reservations department decides the order for getting on or off the flight and for cabin upgrades or downgrades.
Special services, children and pets
The unaccompanied minor service doesn't apply to ZED travel.
Dress code
Look clean, neat and modest. Air Canada asks you to dress with "care, class and common sense" and to choose clothes that suit what you are doing that day. Stained, dirty, see-through, torn or revealing clothing isn't permitted.
The pass holder is personally responsible for what their friends and family wear when they travel on pass privileges.
