Flair Airlines standby & non-rev travel

IATA F8ICAO FLECanada ›

All standby listings on Flair Airlines are made in myIDTravel: don't contact Flair Customer Support or come to the airport to list. Flair sells one-way flights only, so each leg needs its own listing, and you can't fly standby on a route and date where you ever held a confirmed Flair seat. Staff Airlines doesn't show loads for this airline yet, but it shows estimated open seats on other airlines on your route and connections through other hubs.

How to list for standby on Flair Airlines

All non-revenue listings must be made in myIDTravel. Only you, your eligible dependents and travel companions (if your airline's agreement includes them) who are set up in myIDTravel can fly standby on Flair. Don't contact Flair Customer Support or come to the airport to list, unless you are a jumpseating pilot.

  1. In myIDTravel, choose Flair (F8) as the airline before you search for your flight.
  2. Flair offers one-way flights only. For a multi-city trip, make a separate listing for each flight.
  3. After the purchase you get a six-character record locator (PNR). Keep it with you when you travel. Flair is ticketless, so there is no ticket number.

Can't get into myIDTravel? Ask your own airline's travel office. For a listing error, email [email protected] with screenshots of the error, the traveler's name, travel date(s), route(s) and the exact error message.

Flights you can't use

  • Only scheduled Flair flights can be used. Charter, ferry and other non-scheduled flights aren't available.
  • You can't fly non-revenue on a route and date where you have ever held a confirmed seat on Flair, however early that reservation was cancelled.
  • Flair may embargo a flight or route for a set period for operational reasons. Embargoes are shown on the ID Agreements page of myIDTravel. At the time of this snapshot, none were listed.

Baggage

  • One personal item, one carry-on and one checked bag of up to 50 lbs.
  • Overweight, oversize or extra bags are charged standard fees and travel only if payload allows, after all paying passengers' bags are loaded.
  • If you're on two separate PNRs, you have to collect and re-check your bags in between.
  • Non-revenue bags are carried without liability for loss or damage. If a bag is lost, airport staff will try to find it and make it available for pickup, but Flair won't ship it to you.
  • Checked bags may be inspected under TSA regulations.

Check-in

  • Web and mobile check-in are open to non-revenue guests: find your reservation with your last name and confirmation number, then click the check-in button.
  • Until you're cleared, your web or mobile boarding pass shows the seat as "TBD".
  • The deadline for checking bags is the same as for paying passengers.
  • If you don't check in before your listed flight leaves, the segment is deleted automatically when the flight closes.
  • You only need your employee badge if you're eligible for and plan to ride the flight deck jumpseat, but it's worth carrying anyway. Don't wear it unless you're in uniform or in the jumpseat.

Boarding, seats and upgrades

You get on only if there is space and payload limits for safe operation allow it. Standby priority order:

  1. SA0: Flair executives and board directors
  2. SA1: all other Flair employees, plus eligible people in the same reservation as the employee
  3. SA2: pass-eligible people in a reservation without the employee
  4. SA3: employee buddy passes
  5. SA4: approved third-party contractors or other designated groups, and employees of other airlines on leisure travel agreements
  • If loads allow, you may be cleared well before departure. On full flights you may have to wait until check-in has closed: sometimes only 5-10 minutes before departure, depending on no-shows.
  • Don't keep asking airport staff about your place on the list. They clear passengers in list order.
  • Stay ready: board as soon as you hear your name and receive your boarding pass. If you don't collect it, the next standby passenger gets the seat.
  • If you don't get on, airport staff can move you to the next available flight on the same route if you ask. For a different route, cancel and re-list in myIDTravel.

Seats:

  • Once cleared, you may be asked which seat you'd like if more than one is free.
  • If you need a particular seat because of a disability, tell the agent at check-in or at the gate. Otherwise sit in the seat on your boarding pass.
  • Never ask a paying passenger to swap seats, and follow requests from airport staff, flight attendants and pilots quickly and politely: even if you're asked to leave the aircraft.

Special services, children and pets

Infants

  • Lap infants can't be booked in myIDTravel. Tell airport staff at check-in and be ready to show proof of age.
  • An infant can't currently be listed in a seat of their own. If there are enough free seats, airport staff will try to give you an empty seat next to you, but they won't ask a paying passenger to move for it.

Pets and service animals

  • If you're traveling with a pet in the cabin or a service animal, see an agent at the ticket counter before security, or at the gate before boarding if you're self-connecting from another flight.
  • Flair doesn't carry animals as baggage or cargo.

Children traveling alone

  • Within Canada: children up to 12 years must travel with a ticketed passenger aged 18 or older for the whole trip. Children 12 and older can travel alone on non-stop flights only.
  • Between Canada and the United States: children up to 15 years must travel with a ticketed passenger aged 18 or older for the whole trip. Children 16 and older can travel alone on non-stop flights only.

Dress code

Wear clean, well-kept clothes in good taste. Unless you're in uniform, other passengers shouldn't be able to tell you're an airline employee or dependent flying standby. Remove or tuck away your employee badge unless you're in uniform or in the jumpseat.

Not acceptable:

  • Clothing with explicit or offensive words, images or symbols
  • Revealing tank tops or halter tops
  • Ripped or torn clothing, including jeans
  • Sweatpants, jogging pants, yoga pants or anything made of lycra-like material
  • Very short shorts or skirts
  • Very baggy clothing
  • Beach or swimwear
  • Visible underwear
  • Pajamas

If your clothes don't meet these rules, you'll be asked to change or may be refused travel. Airport staff and pilots have the final say.

How to behave:

  • Paying passengers always come first. Anything that spoils their experience, including on social media, can get you refused travel.
  • Blend in: don't draw attention to yourself or talk about non-revenue travel.
  • No alcohol before the flight if you're traveling as a jumpseater (in the physical jumpseat or not), if you'll be on duty within 8 hours of arrival, or if you're in uniform. Jumpseat riders follow the same FAA alcohol rules as the working crew.
  • If you feel you were treated unfairly, follow the staff's instructions and don't raise it at the airport or on board. Finish your trip and complain through your own airline's pass bureau.
  • The employee is responsible for how their dependents and companions behave. Make sure dependents traveling without you know Flair's rules. Violations are reported to your airline's pass bureau, and Flair can ban future travel.

Changes and refunds

  • To change a listing, request a refund in myIDTravel and book the flight you want.
  • A different routing always needs a new listing, even if you're already at the airport. If you're worried about reaching myIDTravel while traveling, you can list for more than one route in advance. There's no need to list several flights on the same route or to check in for several routes.
  • Cancelling in myIDTravel gives a full refund to the original credit card.
  • If you get an error, use the email address on the ID Agreements page and include the record locator, traveler name(s), travel date(s) and route(s). Manual refunds take as long as automatic ones; Flair will tell you if yours will take longer.
  • Never use a credit card chargeback instead of asking for a refund. For refund problems, contact Flair staff travel (email in myIDTravel > ID Agreements) or your own staff travel department. Chargebacks are reported to your airline, may lead to disciplinary action, and can put you on Flair's internal no-fly list.

Good to know

  • Non-revenue guests aren't eligible for compensation for delays, cancellations or denied boarding. If you're offered compensation, you must turn it down.
  • Jumpseats: Flair has separate jumpseat agreements for CASS-eligible pilots. Eligible jumpseaters can use the single flight deck jumpseat or a free cabin seat, depending on availability and CASS verification. More at jumpseatinfo.org.
