How to list for standby on Air Inuit
- Make your listing in myIDTravel.
- For questions about using myIDTravel, contact your own airline's Staff Travel department.
- If you're bumped from a flight, relist yourself on the next available flight in myIDTravel.
Baggage
Standby passengers follow the same baggage rules as full-fare passengers (see the Baggage page on the Air Inuit website).
- The allowance depends on the aircraft type: 30 kg (66 lb) on the Boeing 737, 30 kg (66 lb) on the Dash-8 or Twin Otter, and 20 kg (44 lb) on the King Air.
- If any segment of your trip is on a turboprop (Dash-8, Twin Otter or King Air), the turboprop allowance applies to that segment.
- The allowance applies to direct flights and connections operated by Air Inuit.
- Air Inuit counts total weight, not pieces: you can check several bags as long as their combined weight stays within the allowance.
- Each bag can weigh up to 32 kg (70 lb). Heavier pieces aren't accepted as checked baggage and must go as cargo.
- Each bag can measure up to 158 cm (62 in) in total (height + width + length, including wheels and handles).
- Small vehicles powered by lithium batteries aren't accepted (see Restrictions and Prohibited Items on the Air Inuit website).
- Anything over the allowance is charged as excess baggage at $8.40-$9.20/kg (taxes included), paid at check-in. Excess baggage always travels on a space-available basis and within the maximum authorized payload.
Check-in
- Online check-in isn't available for standby travel. Check in at the departure airport.
- Get to the airport well ahead of your flight so you have time to check in, drop your bags and clear security.
Check-in times, counted from scheduled departure (recommended / latest deadline):
- Montréal Pierre-Elliott-Trudeau International: 90 min / 45 min
- Quebec City Jean-Lesage: 90 min / 60 min
- All other airports: 60 min / 45 min
Boarding, seats and upgrades
At cut-off you'll be told whether you have a confirmed seat on the flight you checked in for. As a courtesy, employees and space-available passengers always board last.
Staff travelers get a boarding priority code. Eligible dependents traveling with the employee share the employee's priority.
- SA1: Air Inuit employees and their dependents.
- SA2: retirees, buddy passes and employees of other airlines.
Within each code, priority goes by hire date.
Good to know
Who can travel: eligible employees and retirees, and eligible dependents (a spouse (legally married or common-law, opposite or same sex), children under 24 and parents).
Bumping and compensation:
- Space-available passengers can be removed from a flight or bumped for Air Inuit's commercial needs.
- Passengers on travel privileges get no denied boarding or bumping compensation, under the tariff or any legislation.
