Allegiant Air standby & non-rev travel

List yourself at least two hours before the flight.

• If your airline has a ZED agreement with Allegiant Air, list in myIDTravel or ID90 Travel.
• Staff of Sun Country, Frontier, Alaska and United Airlines must list in ID90 Travel.

Charter flights operated by Allegiant can't be used. There are no embargoes at the moment.

Allegiant follows the TSA Secure Flight program, so have these details ready when you list:

• full name (first, middle and last, exactly as on your government-issued ID)
• gender
• date of birth
• Redress Number, if you have one
• Known Traveler Number, if you have one

Checked baggage:

• 1 checked bag per ticketed passenger, up to 50 pounds and 62 inches (length + width + height).
• Bags 2 to 9 cost $50 each; every bag after that costs $110.
• Overweight items of 51–100 pounds and oversized items of more than 62 and up to 80 inches (such as surfboards, bicycles or vaulting poles) are accepted for $50 per item.
• Bags are screened and may be physically inspected as the TSA requires, and you may have to show ID.
• Your name must be on the outside of every bag; putting it inside too is recommended. Name labels are available at Allegiant ticket counters.
• Get a separate claim check for each bag and make sure the city on it is your final destination.
• Allegiant isn't liable for lost, damaged or delayed bags of standby travellers. If a late-checked bag doesn't arrive with you, Allegiant won't pay to deliver it.

Cabin baggage:

• 1 bag plus 1 small personal item, such as a purse, briefcase, camera, food container or laptop (with case).
• The carry-on bag can be no bigger than 9 x 14 x 22 inches.
• Everyone, including employees, and their bags can be thoroughly searched.
• Also allowed on board: a child restraint device for a ticketed child with a reserved seat, or when a free seat is available; any number of assistive or mobility devices; coats and other clothing you wear; food for the flight in disposable packaging; walking canes and umbrellas.

The TSA website lists prohibited items for both checked and cabin bags.

Strollers and car seats: if you travel with children, you can check one stroller and one car seat (CRS) per child for free, on top of the normal allowance. Any type of stroller or car seat counts, and you can check them at the curb, ticket counter or gate. Allegiant takes no responsibility for damage; they are tagged as conditionally accepted and put in a plastic bag.

Ticket counter check-in with a Customer Service Agent opens two hours before scheduled departure. Check in at least 60 minutes before your flight.

All travel is standby only, never a confirmed seat. Boarding priority goes by the time you checked in, and Allegiant employees and their dependents are accommodated before staff of other airlines.

1. After checking in at the gate, stay away from the ticket counter until you are called for a new boarding pass with a seat.
2. Once you have the boarding pass, board when directed and sit in your assigned seat.
3. Don't ask other passengers to swap seats to improve yours.

Allegiant has an open seating policy. If you have a condition that needs a special seating arrangement, tell the Customer Service Agent at the ticket counter when you check in. Qualifying standby passengers can pre-board only if their boarding pass can be issued before general boarding.

• Children under 16 can travel on a rebate ticket only with an adult on the same type of rebate ticket.

Infant safety seats:

• An infant needs a ticket to use a safety seat on board.
• Allegiant and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) strongly recommend that infants and small children under 40 pounds fly in a suitable car seat (CRS).
• Check the width: a seat wider than 16 inches is unlikely to fit, even with the armrests moved, and a poorly fitting seat won't protect your child properly.
• The FAA bans backless booster seats, safety belt extensions ("belly belts") and vest or harness devices that attach to an adult, even if older ones carry an approval insignia or wording.
• A CRS made between January 1, 1961 and February 25, 1985 must carry the label "This child restraint device conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards."
• A CRS made since February 26, 1985 must carry that label and also "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft."
• The only harness the FAA has approved so far is the AmSafe Aviation CARES, for children of 22 to 44 pounds. It must be labelled "FAA Approved in Accordance with 14CFR 21.305(d), Approved for Aircraft Use Only."

The dress code is relaxed and casual, but you and everyone travelling with you must look clean, well-groomed and tasteful.

Acceptable:

• clean pants or walking shorts without holes
• T-shirts without offensive or inappropriate messages or pictures
• polo or button-down shirts, sweaters or jackets
• tennis shoes, loafers, sandals or flip-flops

If you wear any of these, you will be denied standby travel:

• tank tops, or outfits with offensive or sexual inscriptions or messages
• low-cut, skimpy or revealing clothes, short shorts or gym shorts
• torn, ragged or slashed pants or shorts; exposed midriff or halter tops
• bare feet, beachwear or swimwear

Behave with courtesy, integrity, responsibility and good judgment, and so do your guests:

• Be cooperative; disruptive behaviour won't be tolerated.
• Do what Customer Service Agents and Inflight Team Members ask. If asked to leave the aircraft or change seats, do it quickly and quietly.
• Don't cause any inconvenience to paying guests or distract staff from serving them.
• Don't ask for free drinks, alcohol or food.

Email [email protected] for all refunds. Allegiant Customer Care can't help with them, so don't contact it. Allegiant knows that some unused flights show as "flown" in myIDTravel and is working to fix this.

Buy every ticket you and your eligible nominees are likely to need for the whole trip before leaving your base: local stations aren't set up to issue rebate tickets.

• ZED tickets can't be sold, bought, donated, traded or exchanged for goods or services, and they aren't transferable.
• You can't use a ZED ticket if you already hold a paid ticket between the same cities on the same day.
• Standby travellers and their guests aren't eligible for denied boarding compensation or interrupted trip expenses.
