To fly standby on Delta Air Lines you list and buy your ticket in myIDTravel. Seats are handed out at the gate, so be there 35 minutes before a domestic departure and 60 minutes before an international one. Sky Club lounges are closed to everyone on non-revenue travel. How to list for standby on Delta Air Lines
Every staff traveler lists and tickets through myIDTravel.
- Get the FlyDelta App to follow your flight status and watch the standby list.
- If your plans change, cancel your listing.
Baggage
- Checked bags: up to 2 travel free, as long as they stay within Delta's standard allowance. Bags that are too heavy or too big may cost extra: see the Baggage Overview page on the Delta website for details.
- Cabin: 1 carry-on bag plus 1 personal item.
- Non-revenue travelers often board last, so you may be asked to check your carry-on at the gate.
- A pet in the cabin counts as part of your carry-on allowance.
Check-in
You can check in at www.delta.com from 24 hours before departure. At check-in you receive a seat request card.
Check-in closes:
- Domestic flights: 30 minutes before departure, or 45 minutes if you are checking a bag.
- International flights: 60 minutes before departure.
Be at the gate at least 35 minutes before a domestic departure and 60 minutes before an international one.
Boarding, seats and upgrades
Your seat is assigned at the gate. Watch the gate screens or the FlyDelta App to find out which seat you got.
Special services, children and pets
Pets in the cabin (PETC):
- Don't call reservations to add a PETC request to your booking before your travel day. Ask a Delta agent for it at the airport when you check in on the day of departure.
- Only a limited number of cabin pets fit on each flight. Yours is accepted only if that limit hasn't been reached once all revenue passengers and their pets are on board.
- The usual acceptance rules, kennel size guidelines, document requirements (where they apply) and destination embargoes still apply.
- Employees of other airlines pay the PETC fee.

Other animals:
- Delta doesn't carry pets in cargo for non-revenue passengers.
- Emotional support animals aren't accepted.
Dress code
Be well-groomed, neat and clean.
- Wear shoes. Bare feet aren't allowed unless a disability or physical condition prevents footwear.
- Clothes, hair and overall look must be clean: no dirty, stained or torn clothing.
- Nothing vulgar, offensive, suggestive, see-through or too revealing.
- Bermuda shorts, sandals and flip-flops are fine. Swimwear, underwear and pajamas are not.
- Cover any tattoo that could be seen as offensive, vulgar, obscene, controversial or inflammatory. If you're not sure, cover it.
Changes and refunds
For the fastest refund, request it in myIDTravel within 3 days of the travel date on your ticket. If the booking (PNR) is no longer active, ZED refunds are handled manually.
Good to know
Delta Sky Clubs are off-limits to anyone traveling on a non-revenue ticket, whether for leisure or duty. Buying a confirmed ticket and then refunding it just to get into a Sky Club counts as breaking this rule.

Do I list for a Delta standby flight in myIDTravel?
Yes. Every staff traveler lists and tickets through myIDTravel. The FlyDelta App lets you check your flight status and the standby list.
Can I fly on a Delta Air Lines buddy pass?
Delta stopped issuing new buddy passes from 1 January 2026. Instead, Delta employees can name a secondary travel companion, who can fly standby without them. Ask the Delta employee you know whether they can add you.
How many bags can I take on Delta as a non-rev?
Up to 2 checked bags free within the standard allowance, plus 1 carry-on and 1 personal item. You may have to check your carry-on at the gate.

Can I bring my pet on a Delta standby flight?

Can I use a Delta Sky Club on a staff ticket?

Which airlines can I fly on ZED fares?
It depends on the ZED and interline agreements of the airline you work for. In Staff Airlines, the partner airlines filter shows only the flights you can board.
