Breeze Airways standby & non-rev travel

IATA MXICAO MXYUnited States ›

To fly standby on Breeze Airways you list and pay in myIDTravel; Breeze's contact center and airport staff can't create a listing for you. Breeze is ticketless, so you travel on the six-character record locator (PNR) you get after paying, and other airline leisure travelers (ZED) are cleared at priority S8. Staff Airlines shows estimated open seats on Breeze Airways flights before you go.

How to list for standby on Breeze Airways

Make every non-revenue listing in myIDTravel. Only you, your eligible dependents and travel companions (if your airline's agreement covers them) who appear in myIDTravel can fly standby on Breeze.

  1. Open myIDTravel > ID Agreements for the full listing instructions.
  2. List your flight and pay with Visa, Mastercard, Discover or American Express.
  3. Keep the six-character record locator (PNR) you receive with you when you travel. Breeze is ticketless, so there is no ticket number.
  • If you can't get into myIDTravel, ask your own airline's staff travel office for help. The Breeze contact center and airport staff can't help you create a new listing.
  • If you get a listing error, write to the email address shown in myIDTravel > ID Agreements. Include the traveler's name, travel dates, routes and the exact error message; screenshots of the error help.
  • Optional: link your listing to a Breeze guest account for easier access before and during the trip, and to apply your saved notification preferences. Your full name and date of birth on the listing must match your profile exactly. Without an account you may not get operational notifications, and you can't use or buy onboard wifi.

Flights you can't use

  • Only scheduled Breeze flights are open to non-revenue travel. Charter, ferry and other non-scheduled flights aren't available.
  • You can't fly non-revenue on any route and date for which you have ever held a confirmed seat on Breeze, no matter how far ahead you cancelled that reservation.
  • From time to time Breeze embargoes a flight or route for a set period because of operational needs. Embargoes are listed on the ID Agreements page in myIDTravel. Don't contact the Guest Empowerment Team to ask for a listing on an embargoed flight.

Baggage

Everything you bring must meet Transportation Security Administration (TSA) guidelines and may be screened before it goes on board.

Cabin baggage, per non-revenue guest:

  • 1 personal item under the seat, such as a purse, briefcase, small backpack, laptop bag or pet carrier: up to 17" x 13" x 8" (43 cm x 33 cm x 20 cm).
  • 1 carry-on bag in the overhead bin: up to 22" x 14" x 9" (56 cm x 36 cm x 23 cm), wheels and handles included.
  • If the overhead bins are full, your carry-on may be checked at the gate at no cost, and it won't count toward your checked allowance.
  • A cabin bag larger than these sizes is checked at the gate and does count toward your checked allowance.
  • Lap infants don't get their own cabin baggage allowance.

Checked baggage, per non-revenue guest:

  • 2 items, each up to 62 linear inches (157 linear cm) and 50 lbs (23 kg), checked at the ticket counter.
  • Overweight, oversize or extra bags are charged standard baggage fees and are taken only if payload allows after all revenue guests' bags are on board.
  • On a connecting trip, bags are checked through to your final destination only if you are listed on one PNR. With two separate PNRs, collect and re-check your bags at every intermediate stop. Always check that the final destination on the bag tag is correct.

Lost or damaged bags: tell Breeze airport staff and they will open a claim. A found bag can be picked up at any Breeze station as soon as practical, but Breeze won't ship it. Compensation for delayed, damaged or lost bags follows the same rules as for revenue guests.

Check-in

Domestic flights:

  1. Check in on the web or in the Breeze mobile app: open the Check In page on FlyBreeze.com or in the app and find your reservation with your last name and confirmation number (or under upcoming flights if the trip is linked to your profile).
  2. Until you are cleared, your boarding pass shows the seat as "TBD" or "0".
  3. If loads allow, you may sometimes be cleared well before departure. If the flight is full, you may have to wait until check-in has closed.

On a connecting trip, each segment is checked in separately, and only within 24 hours of that segment's departure.

International flights: web and mobile check-in aren't available for non-revenue guests yet. Check in at the ticket counter, where your documents are also verified, at least one hour before departure.

Baggage check cutoff times are the same for non-revenue and revenue guests.

You need your employee badge only if you are a pilot or dispatcher eligible for, and planning to ride in, the flight deck jumpseat. Don't wear it unless you are in uniform or riding the jumpseat.

Boarding, seats and upgrades

Non-revenue guests are always boarded on a space-available basis and subject to any payload limits needed to operate the aircraft safely. Standby priority goes in this order:

  • S0: Breeze COBUS Space Available
  • S1: Team Member Emergency Travel
  • S2: Other Airline COBUS Space Available
  • S3: Active Breeze Team Members and Nominees using a Vacation Pass
  • S4: Active Breeze Team Members and Accompanied Nominees
  • S5: Unaccompanied Nominees of Active Breeze Team Members
  • S6: Retired Breeze Team Members and Nominees & Breeze Pilot Pathway Program Members
  • S7: Breeze Buddy Pass Travelers
  • S8: Other Airline Leisure (ZED)
  • S9: Other Airline Commuting Crew/Jumpseater

Within each category, the employee's date of hire decides the order. Commuting flight crew (S9) are the exception: they go in order of check-in. Through standbys who boarded at an earlier city stay on board through the intermediate stop unless their seats are needed for confirmed guests; local standbys joining there don't bump them.

The standby list is on the Breeze website and app under Flight Status. It shows everyone listed, whether they have checked in or not. You may not be cleared until 5–10 minutes before departure, depending on no-shows, so be ready to board as soon as your name is called. If you don't collect your boarding pass promptly, the next non-revenue guest on the list gets the seat.

Seats:

  • Once cleared, you may be asked which seat you prefer if more than one is free.
  • If you need a particular seat because of a disability, tell the agent at check-in or at the gate. Otherwise sit in the seat on your boarding pass, and never ask a revenue guest to swap seats.

Upgrades and business class:

  • Standby guests don't get complimentary upgrades.
  • If your agreement includes leisure travel in business class (branded Breeze Ascent), choose Business as your cabin when you list.
  • Only the A220 fleet (aircraft type code 223) has this cabin right now. Listing for business class on an aircraft without it returns an error. On trips with different aircraft, use the multi-city function to choose a cabin for each segment.
  • In myIDTravel, every standby guest on a Breeze flight shows as listed for "Main Cabin" because of a system limitation, even if you are correctly listed for business class.

Special services, children and pets

Infants:

  • Lap infants can't be listed in myIDTravel. Tell the airport staff at check-in and be ready to show proof of age.
  • An infant can't be listed for a seat of their own at the moment. If enough seats are free, airport staff will try to give an adult with a lap infant an empty seat next to them on request, but they won't ask a revenue guest to move. Another standby guest gets priority over a seat for an infant who can sit on an adult's lap.

Children traveling alone:

  • Breeze doesn't carry guests under 13 without an accompanying adult.
  • Adults dropping off travelers aged 13–17 can ask for a gate pass at the ticket counter to walk them to the gate.

Service animals and pets:

  • Service animals and small pets travel on the same terms as for revenue guests, except that the pet fee is reduced to $25.
  • The number of pets per flight is limited, and pets of revenue guests are accepted first.
  • With a pet in the cabin or a service animal, check in with an agent at the ticket counter before security: or at the gate before boarding if you are connecting from another flight on your own.
  • Breeze doesn't carry animals as baggage or cargo.

Dress code

Wear clothes that are clean, in good condition and in good taste. Unless you are in uniform, other guests shouldn't be able to tell that you are an airline employee or dependent traveling non-revenue.

Not acceptable:

  • Clothing with explicit or offensive words, images or symbols
  • Revealing tank tops or halter tops
  • Ripped or torn clothing, jeans included
  • Sweatpants, jogging pants, yoga pants or any lycra-type pants
  • Very short shorts or skirts
  • Very baggy clothing
  • Beachwear or swimwear
  • Visible underwear
  • Pajamas

Remove or tuck in your employee badge unless you are in uniform or riding the jumpseat. If your clothes don't meet these standards, you will be asked to change or may be refused travel. Airport staff and pilots have the final say.

Conduct:

  • Revenue guests always come first. Any behavior that spoils their experience, including on social media, can get you refused travel.
  • Blend in with revenue guests: don't draw attention to yourself or talk about non-revenue travel.
  • Follow requests from airport staff, flight attendants and pilots quickly and politely, even if you are asked to leave the aircraft.
  • No alcohol before flying if you are traveling as a jumpseater (whether or not you sit in the physical jumpseat), if you are or will be on duty within 8 hours of arrival, or if you are traveling in uniform. Jumpseat riders follow the same FAA alcohol rules as the working crew.
  • If something goes wrong or you feel treated unfairly, don't raise it at the airport or on board. Follow the crew's instructions, finish your trip if you can, note the details, and take the complaint to your own airline's pass bureau afterwards.
  • As the employee, you are responsible for how your dependents and travel companions behave. Make sure dependents flying without you know Breeze's rules. Violations are reported to your airline's pass bureau, and Breeze may ban future travel on its flights.

Changes and refunds

Changing flights:

  • To move to another flight on the same route, relist yourself in myIDTravel at any time: unless you have already checked bags at the airport.
  • Airport staff can move you to an earlier or later flight on the same route, as long as you checked in before your listed flight left. Revenue guests get agent help first.
  • If you don't check in before your listed flight departs, that segment is deleted from your listing automatically when the flight closes. Airport staff then can't move you until you relist the PNR in myIDTravel or make a new listing.
  • If you don't get on your flight, airport staff can move you to the next available flight on the same route on request.
  • A different route always needs a new listing (cancel and relist in myIDTravel), even if you are already at the airport. If you worry about reaching myIDTravel on the road, you can list for more than one route before you arrive. You don't need listings for several flights on the same route or check-ins for several routes.

Refunds:

  • Cancelling in myIDTravel triggers a full or partial refund, usually automatically.
  • If your listed flight is cancelled, refund or relist in myIDTravel as soon as you can.
  • If you hit an error, use the email address on the ID Agreements page. Include the record locator, traveler names, travel dates and routes.
  • Refunds go back to the original credit card, usually within 3–5 business days, occasionally up to two weeks.
  • Refunds must be requested within 12 months of the original purchase. Later requests are denied.
  • Manual refunds are started within five business days of your request, and you get an email once they are. After that they take as long as an automatic refund.
  • Never use a credit card chargeback or dispute instead of asking for a refund. If you have a refund problem, contact Breeze staff travel at the email in myIDTravel > ID Agreements, or your own airline's staff travel department. Chargebacks are reported to your airline, may lead to disciplinary action, and can get any passenger put on Breeze's internal no-fly list.

Business class downgrade: if you listed for business class but sat in economy, Breeze refunds the fare and tax difference to your original form of payment. Ask for it through the contacts on the ID Agreements page in myIDTravel, but only after you have flown the whole itinerary.

BreezeThru flights (direct flights with a stop on the way):

  • Listed as one segment, the fare is based on the nonstop distance between where you board and where you get off, ignoring the stop. If you are offloaded at the stop, there is no refund, because the segment counts as flown, and you need a new listing to continue.
  • You can instead book it as a connecting trip with multi-city search in myIDTravel, which usually costs more. You then leave the aircraft at the stop and are boarded again as a local standby. If you can't get back on, the applicable partial refund may be processed.

Good to know

  • Non-revenue guests get no compensation for delays, cancellations or denied boarding. If you are offered any, you must turn it down.
  • Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) has been renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport, with the code DJT from August 18, 2026. Flights up to August 17 operate as PBI and flights from August 18 as DJT; Breeze's reservation system already uses the new code, so list with the code that matches your travel date. You can change the date of an existing listing only to a date with the same airport code as when you listed.

Commuting pilots and dispatchers:

  • Breeze's commuter agreements for pilots and dispatchers are separate from leisure travel agreements.
  • Every commuting pilot and dispatcher must list in myIDTravel with the Pilot Commuting Listing option within 14 days of departure: whether or not you are CASS-eligible or want the flight deck jumpseat. Walk-up listings aren't allowed; without a listing you will be sent to myIDTravel.
  • If check-in has already closed, myIDTravel shows an error. Tell a Breeze agent at the ticket counter or gate that you want to make a commuter listing, and they can reopen the flight briefly so you can list. This may not work once boarding has started, and Breeze won't delay a flight for a last-minute commuter listing.
  • Commuters get a cabin seat at priority S9 if one is free. Other airline pilots, dispatchers and flight attendants have equal priority for cabin seats.
  • The physical jumpseat can be assigned on request, once CASS verification is done. Nobody is considered for it automatically unless their job requires them to sit there. Requests are handled first come, first served at the gate, in this order: required jumpseat occupants (for example check airmen and FAA inspectors), Breeze Airways pilots, Breeze Airways dispatchers, other airline pilots, other airline dispatchers, air traffic controllers.
  • Once you have the jumpseat, a CASS-approved pilot or dispatcher from a higher category can take it from you; someone from the same or a lower category can't. If a cabin seat opens up close to departure, you may be asked to take it so someone from a lower category can have the jumpseat.
  • On domestic flights only CASS-approved pilots and dispatchers may sit in the flight deck jumpseat. On international flights only Breeze or authorized government employees may.
  • If your airline has no commuter agreement with Breeze, you must buy a ZED ticket (if available) or a commercial fare, and no refunds are given in that case. See jumpseatinfo.org or ask your Flight Ops department.

Commuting flight attendants:

  • Flight attendants of participating airlines may be able to use a reciprocal cabin seat agreement.
  • Every commuting flight attendant must list in myIDTravel with the Flight Attendant Commuting Listing option within 14 days of departure. The rules on walk-up listings and closed flights are the same as for pilots.
  • Commuters get a cabin seat at priority S9 if one is free.
  • If your airline has no commuter agreement with Breeze, you must buy a ZED ticket (if available) or a commercial fare, with no refunds. Ask your Inflight department to request an agreement.
  • Only Breeze flight attendants may sit in the cabin jumpseats, on all flights.

Questions, answered

How do I list for a Breeze Airways standby flight in myIDTravel?

List and pay in myIDTravel; full instructions are under ID Agreements. Breeze's contact center and airport staff can't create listings, and you travel on a six-character PNR rather than a ticket number.

Can I fly on a Breeze Airways buddy pass?

Only if a Breeze Airways employee gives you one. Buddy passes are issued by the airline to its own staff for friends and family, and Breeze Airways's employee rules decide who can use them and what they cost. Buddy pass travelers fly standby and usually board after employees.

What is my standby priority on Breeze as another airline's employee?

Other airline leisure travelers (ZED) are priority S8. Within that group, the order goes by the employee's date of hire.

How much baggage can I take on Breeze?

One personal item up to 17" x 13" x 8" (43 x 33 x 20 cm) and one carry-on up to 22" x 14" x 9" (56 x 36 x 23 cm), plus 2 checked items of up to 62 linear inches (157 cm) and 50 lbs (23 kg) each.

What can't I wear on Breeze?

Ripped clothing, sweatpants or yoga pants, very short shorts or skirts, beachwear, pajamas, revealing tops and clothes with offensive words or images. Airport staff and pilots have the final say.

How long does a Breeze standby refund take?

Usually 3–5 business days, occasionally up to two weeks, back to the original credit card. Refunds must be requested within 12 months of purchase.

Which airlines can I fly on ZED fares?

It depends on the ZED and interline agreements of the airline you work for. In Staff Airlines, the partner airlines filter shows only the flights you can board.

Airline rules change often and this summary may be out of date. Always confirm important details with Breeze Airways’s staff travel department or in the booking tool you use before you travel. Staff Airlines is not responsible for denied boarding, missed flights or other losses. Found a mistake? Let us know.
